Mitch`s Kids
8/25/2010

2010-2011 After School Program
Mitch`s Kids!

Mitch’s Kids is a partnership with the Governor’s office, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), and the Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Indiana. Mitch’s Kids is designed to enhance the proven effective Homework POWER Hour.

POWER Hour focuses on improving reading and math skills by enabling club members to develop the daily habit of completing homework and preparing for school in a safe, quiet space with help from staff and volunteers. We believe this effort will encourage greater interest in academics and will lead to success throughout student’s lives. The progress of each participant will be documented through attendance records and pre & post testing.

Who is eligible for Mitch’s Kids? Any Girls Club member in grades 1 – 8 that fall within income guidelines, are willing to complete pre & post testing, willing to complete a minimum of 30 homework sessions and 10 career related presentations (guest speakers) over a period of at least eight weeks. Due to the funding received from the Mitch’s Kids program, those members that complete Mitch’s Kids the nine week after school program fee will not be charged.

What is included with participation in Mitch’s Kids? Homework help in a dedicated, quite space with the homework coordinator and volunteers; a nutritious snack each day; a variety of activities, special events and programs including cooking club, drama/music club, community service type activities; programs that teach technology skills and much more.
